The Car Accident

This jerk is not the majority! (http://www.gdargaud.net/Humor/Pics/BeerHeavy.jpg)

Today, I witnessed the aftermath of a car accident.

As, Mike and I were driving down the highway, we saw a smokey totaled car (half of its front was on the opposite side of the highway).

Mike, "Man, that looks fresh."

A young man wearing all blue runs across the highway towards the totaled car, forcing us to break just long enough for me to see that a woman was still in the car. I immediately, say "Mike, she is still in the car. Should we---"

Mike was already pulling over the car.

Seconds later, I spot an older gentleman running down the highway side-road towards the car. His wife frantically dialing numbers.

The younger guy in blue helps the woman out of her car. She is crying and can barely stand. She is in complete shock.

Mike helps her stand, when the older gentleman finally arrives at the scene. He places his hand on the woman's back and she immediately starts hugging him and crying on his shoulder. They are complete strangers.

Two minutes later, a random tow-truck man stops, followed by a man in a Suburban with his two sons in the back. He happens to be a cop, but I don't know that at the time.

All these men and one woman. She is crying. They are trying to comfort her. They hug her and hold her up. They tell her to,"calm down - it's too hot outside - she won't faint".

I look at the scene and feel terrible for the young woman. I ask her if she is okay - she is too shaken up to respond, but looks at me through teary eyes and nods. I can't also help, but think that this is beautiful - chivalry is not dead and the Good Samaritan exists.

Speaking of the Good Samaritan, one of Mike's best friends, Jared, witness a Suburban truck flip off the highway. He got out of his car, ran down the hill towards the car (praying the whole time he wouldn't see a dead body). Inside the car was a woman that immediately told him, "I cannot open the door or feel my legs. I really think my legs are broken."

Jared's response, "Gotcha, I'm calling the cops - you stay in the car and don't move. I think your leg may be broken."

He stayed until the ambulance got there. I'm sure that she felt comforted knowing that she had such an observant person there beside her.  Anyways, the ambulance got the woman out and escorted her to the hospital. Jared said she seemed okay, but he thinks she broke her leg. Gotta love him.
