Opportunity to help rebuild bridge for Costa Rican town - BLOG OPPORTUNITIES

I got this in my TFA mailbox and think that it sounds beautiful.

Dear Friends,
I am just finishing up my service in Peace Corps Costa Rica, and I want to ask for your support of a final project: re-building the main bridge in my Costa Rican town.

On my 10th day of Peace Corps, my town was hit by Tropical Storm Alma which caused tremendous flooding and destroyed major town infrastructure including the main bridge.
Nine months later, the town has worked very hard to recover, but they still do not have a main bridge – a vital part of the economy, health, and well-being of the community.

The rebuilding of this bridge will be a true collaboration between the people of the town and outside contributors. The town members have already gone house to house and collected donations of $10 per family to buy wooden supports and build a cement bastion for the bridge. Together we created a website for donations -- a tool the town can use for many projects in the future when I am no longer around.

As my final project of Peace Corps Costa Rica, I want to help raise money and complete the construction of the bridge. You can DONATE NOW to build the bridge by going to www.chirriporural.org/voluntariado_en.html and using PayPal.A detailed budget and proposal are attached as well as on the website. Please contribute $50 if you can! If you can contribute more (as much as you are possibly able!), you can make a Huge Impact on this important project!! If you can contribute less, that would also be very valuable. And please pass along to anyone else who might be able to donate.

Our goal is to raise $7,000 for materials and $2,800 to hire the construction manager and machinery, for a total of $10,000. We hope to start construction by April 2009.
We are asking for donations as follows:$25 – Ayudante$50 – Amigo$100 – Patrón$500 – Estrella$1,000 – Ángel
Or you can look at the attached budget and choose to purchase any specific item for the bridge. For example:10 sacks of cement = $90.905 iron reinforcement bars = $68.201 full day salary for the Construction Manager = $36.40
Every dollar you contribute will go straight to the project with no intermediary!

I will spend the next month in the US raising money and garnering support for the project, then return to Costa Rica in late spring to oversee the project to completion. We will track every dollar spent and send you detailed reports on how the money was used.
Please DONATE NOW by going to www.chirriporural.org/voluntariado_en.html. It will only take a minute!
