my parents and sister came up this weekend!

In the beginning...my parents!
This is a diary entry that I made into a post.

It was heaven having them up here and enjoying their 30th anniversary. True love that lasts is beautiful. One of their key pieces of advice for longevity was, "make sure that you protect your marriage - your partner!" Like don't let other people infiltrate your marriage and be sure to listen to your partner when it they let you know something isn't right or feels slightly uncomfortable.

"Yeah, you know that BFF that you've had forever and like to get drinks with - about her? No more one-on-one's."

They then went on to say that there are slopes and peaks in every relationship, but for them it was well worth the time. You just can't give up. I don't know there was something about sitting across from them, that didn't feel familiar. It was like for the first time I was saw them as people. Two people that really did decide to stick together through it all and two people that really do get, love and appreciate one another. And for a minute it felt really good to be the a part of such beauty - witnessing the results of lasting love, loyalty, honesty, simplicity, and commitment - especially during a time when I feel so overwhelmed with superficiality, disloyalty, lies, drama, complications, and ultimate self-centeredness.
