I was wrong!

Property is a PAGE TURNER... the reviews were right this book is compelling, elegant and absolutely painful - The Washington Post said it best when it said that this book is,

"quick-paced and absorbing...chilling, understated and brilliant"

It delves into sexuality, the idea of mistress vs. victim, jealousy, the brilliance and strength of women, obsession, and human emotion... BRAVO, Valerie Martin!

Last night, I pulled it out of my bag and decided to give it a try and literally found myself consumed on the train. While I walked home my thoughts were flooded with scenes, ideas, and overall themes of the book. When I finally reached my home, all I could do was go through my "bed time routine," pour myself a glass of Crystal Light, grab some peanut M&Ms, and curl up under the lamp and read more...

I had to literally tear myself from the book, just to wake up this morning yearning for more.
Now, I am a consistent and constant reader and in January I read some amazing books (Kite Runner, Tuesdays with Morrie, and The Undomesticated Goddess), but I haven't felt this excitement in a book in a long time. I think it's because of my genuine connection to the characters - either way... I was wrong this book is exquisite.

Other books you can read for Black History Month: Toni Morrison books (I've read majority of her collection - my favorite are Sula, Tar Baby, Bluest Eye, Song of Solomon); Bebe Moore Campbell's What You Owe Me;Maya Angelou's I Know Why The Cage Bird Sings and The Heart of a Woman; Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God; Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man; Malcolm X and Alex Haley's The Autobiography of Malcolm X; W.E.B. DuBois's The Souls of Black Folk...
These are just a few off the top of my head - please feel free to add to my list!
