Summer Reading!

The Passion of Mary-Margaret & The Private Writings of the Saint of Calcutta

Very rarely do I read two different books at a time, but to accompany my night-time material, The Private Writings of the Saint of Calcutta, I have started reading the Passion of Mary-Margaret. Both are intense love stories that are full of the idea of sacrifice, passion, complete devotion and life's challenges. I've just started reading both books, but I am completely enchanted...

The Entire Second Testament
Yes, this summer (and spring) I dedicated myself to studying the entire second testament of the bible. I went through a pretty dark period in my life and took God up on a "bet" - I would study His word every day without missing and see what happened. I wanted to study and get to know Jesus, and I wanted to truly understand the ideas of love, mercy, grace, joy, peace, and self-control. I wanted to intellectually delve into this "Living Word" and can I say that it was an intense learning curve ever. I am not the same woman. So, I am on to the first testament...

How To Cook A Tart
I have never read a book about food that literally melts in my mouth. Jasmine, the main character, is a lover of food (real food), her family, and cook books. She is an overweight heroine, that shows that there is nothing more beautiful than passion, confidents, and love. She is the sexiest, coolest and most enduring foodie ever - she slightly reminds me of Mma Precious Ramotswe, from the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, another one of my favorite reads!

All We Ever Wanted Was Everything
It's a look inside the lives of those that seem to have it all. We all have issues. Aside from the fantastic food images that literally leap off of the pages, this book is eye opening, a quick read and absolutely thought provoking.

The Help
I hate when other cultures write for other cultures. That said, this is a delcious book. For me it's like eating ice cream (I'm lactose-intolerant). The whole time that I am reading it, I'm cringing thinking of the end (the stomach ache) but it's delcious and I can't stop as much as I may want to!

Girl with a Dragon Tattoo.
It's a perverse read. The fact that the time in Switzerland is "Men who hate women," makes complete sense. It starts out slow, but much like a rollercoaster once you get to the slopes it's a fast, engaging, horrific read. I definitely suggest it for those that have thick skin and a night-light.
