Shopping with Shelby

My friend, Talisha, is a beautiful girl with a major issue: SHE IS EXTREMELY CONSERVATIVE...well, she dresses extremely conservative, esp. at work. Here lately, she has been going on "dates" after work and feels like she doesn't have transitional clothing and no time to shop. She is not willing to dress "out of her shell" at work but hates feeling like the frumpy librarian on her dates. She doesn't want to shop in the middle of her work hours and can't carry a lot of clothes with her on her trek to work...so my "Shopping With Shelby" advice:

  • Pull your hair up in the back with pins (an idea that annoyed, Talisha): But it's true very few women (with meduim length hair) can keep their hair tight throughout the day - esp. in the fall (rains, mist, etc.). Pulling your hair back also creates a beautiful neckline when you aren't wearing a low-cut shirt.
  • Bring in your pencil skirt (another idea Talisha wasn't happy about) many times she wears it fairly low, so it hits under her knees...BUT we pulled up the skirt, so it's high waisted, and it hits slightly above the knee (we also rolled it just once, so it stays in place)
  • Wear a sleeveless shirt - during work Talisha loves her cardigans and scarfs, so this option allowed her to simply "un-layer" herself and get the perfect "Obama" arms out look.
  • WEAR HEELS: Heels make women feel sexy, look longer, elongates our legs, gives our walk a natural switch, and are simply HAUTE/HOT...nothing more to say.
  • SEXY STOCKINGS: This is where I got the most push back from my lovely Talisha, BUT it's what needed to be done. She had to go to the corner hair and "sexy" wear (meaning buttless copgirl outfits) store and purchase herself a pair of patterned sexy stockings. They are cheap BUT bring that amazingly grown and sexy look. They give the corporate (powerful) and playful feel.
Success story (Talisha is going to be upset but I must): While walking through the office, on the way to her date, Talisha was stopped countless times "oh my good, you are hot." She was the talk of the office - why? Simply because of the tricks above and although Talisha was highly embarrased, unlike me, she HATES attention - I got this text message:
"OMG...you were such a good stylist. I feel so cute"

And she looked beautiful....
